Elimination of terrorism govt’s top priority: Kaira

PASRUR, Oct 11 (APP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that elimination of terrorism and extremism were on top of the government agenda and all possible resources are being utilized in this regard. Talking to mediamen here on Saturday night, he said that some anti-state elements were trying to destabilize the political government through their terrorist activities but all such designs would be foiled with the active support of the masses.

He strongly condemned the GHQ incident.

He said that terrorists were looking safe haven and passage for escaping because their network had already been broken in Swat, Malakand and Buner. He further said that terrorists would be chased in every nook and corner of the country and they would be eliminated at all cost.
Kaira said that Pakistan was fully capable to defend its geographical and ideological fronts and any conspiracy against the sovereignty of the country would thwarted.
About Kerry-Lugar Bill, he said it was not an agreement and “We believed that solidarity and national prestige are important than aid.” The Minister further said the issue of Kerry-Lugar Bill was in the parliament for debate and final decision in this regard would be taken after the debate. The government was making adequate efforts for strengthening the democratic institutions and for the promotion of democracy at gross root levels in the country, he added.
Kaira said that it is high time that we should forge complete unity among the ranks to avert conspiracies of anti-state elements and strengthen the democracy. The PPP and its leadership had paid a heavy price for the revival of democracy and convert the country into real democratic state, he added.
